Lcd Tv, Plasma TV: Which One To Buy?
Laptops and Notebooks: How to make a choice?
Times change and so does technology. The buyers move over from an old technology to a new one even if it involves a higher cost.
Laptops and Notebooks have replaced the standard desktops. Reason…? Portability and Weight.
With so many brands available, here are few points to consider while buying a laptop or notebook.
Portability:: Buyers have moved over from a desktop to a laptop or a notebook due to one of its greatest and most popular feature – Portability. Buyer should study the various models available of a particular brand or different brands to become well
aware of all the weights and sizes available. In case a buyer does not have the requirement of moving while working on a computer, a desktop is a best option. Similarly, if a buyer finds a laptop or a notebook also heavy, he / she should go for a high definition cell phone or a PDA.
Cost:: Laptops are expensive in comparison to a desktop. If a buyer’s budget does not allow him / her for an expensive laptop, he should go for a desktop. The other alternative is to buy a laptop on easy instalments.
Speed:: Laptops usually work at a 30-100% slower speed than a desktop assuming they both have the same features.
Upgradeability:: Usually laptops are non-upgradeable. While the main memory, hard drives can be upgraded this could be very expensive and could make the laptop slow.
Games:: Buyer will have to spend over $2000 to be able to use laptop for playing games at a good speed.
Battery Life:: On an average the battery life provided in most of the laptops is 2-4 hours. While in notebooks, the battery life is about 4-5 hours.
Hard Disk:: For notebooks, ideal hard disk should be of 40-60 GB, however, if a buyer is fond of watching movies and listening to music, he / she should go for 80 GB.
Features of a standard Notebook: Ultra light, battery life of 4-5 hours, absence of internal floppy drive, DVD or CD system, minimal graphics subsystem, 12"-14" TFT screen, integrated modem and network connection, small keyboard, and low power consumption.
Features of a standard Laptop: Light, 14"-17" TFT screen, presence of internal DVD-ROM and / or DVD-RW drive, large keyboard, 2-4 hours of battery life, integrated audio system, upgradeable, high performance Intel Centrino Processor.
Some options to look at while buying a laptop or notebook are listed below:
